PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overvoltage protector of high reliability that has new overvoltage protective construction and that can be made compact and low in price. SOLUTION: The overvoltage protector 51 which prevents a secondary battery from overvoltage includes a case body 52, a resin cover 53, external terminals 56, 57, 58 and a piezo-electric actuator 54. The external terminals 56, 57 are electrically connected to each electrode of the piezo-electric actuator 54 respectively, and the external terminal 58 has a fixed contact 60. The piezo-electric actuator 54 is supported in a cantilever manner within the case body 52, and when overvoltage is applied between the external terminals 56, 57, a movable contact 61 is released from the fixed contact 60 displacing its end.
