<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for musical sound generation which can generate a more natural musical sound by restoring a lost higher-harmonic component even when a sound-recording sampling frequency is made lower than a sampling frequency and musical sound waveform data are generated. <P>SOLUTION: Musical sound waveform data corresponding to an address generated by an address generation part 23 among pieces of musical sound waveform data which are sampled at the sound-recording sampling frequency lower than the original sampling frequency of a waveform table sound source 6 and registered in a timbre data memory 25 are read out and interpolated by an interpolation part 26. A noise formant sound having a high-frequency formant higher than a half of the sound-recording sampling frequency which is generated by a noise formant sound generation part 28 is added to the interpolated musical sound waveform data. Consequently, a high-frequency formant lost as a result of the sampling at the sound-recording sampling frequency is approximately restored with the generated noise formant sound, so a more natural musical sound is generated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
