PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ring-shaped magnet material for rare-earth permanent magnet that is formed in a cylindrical shape and has radial or pole orienting thermal expansion anisotropy, and to provide a method of manufacturing the material. SOLUTION: After a core member is arranged in a cylindrical container by aligning the member with the axis of the container, a powdery rare-earth magnet material is arranged on the outside of the core member in the container, and the material is solidified through shock-wave compression by applying shock waves to the material from the outside of the container.
