PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching power source which can effectively utilize power without connecting a dummy resistor to the choke coil for smoothing of output of a forward converter. SOLUTION: The forward converter is constituted by connecting a switching element Q1 to the primary side of a transformer T, and diodes D1 and D2, a choke coil L, and a capacitor C2 to the secondary side, and a control circuit is connected to the above switching element Q1. In the switching power source using the above forward converter, a secondary choke coil L is provided with auxiliary winding L2, and the DC voltage being obtained by rectifying and smoothing the output voltage of that auxiliary winding L2 is inputted into the control circuit of the primary switching element.
