PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide binoculars which can be formed with mechanisms for a function to adjust the width between the eyes and a focusing function as compactly as possible and at low costs. SOLUTION: Right side and left side viewing optical systems 38R and 38L of the binoculars are installed on right side and left side slide plates 10R and 10L and the width between the eyes of the right side and left side viewing optical systems is adjusted by relatively laterally moving the right side and left side slide plates. Right side and left side mounting plates 46R and 46L to be mounted with portions of the right side and left side viewing optical systems, respectively, are installed on the right side and left side slide plates and the right side and left side mounting plates are moved along the respective optical axes of the right side and left side viewing optical systems for focusing of the right side and left side viewing optical systems. The right side mounting plate has a right side guide shoe 50R freely slidably engaged with a right side linear marginal side 54R of the right side slide plate and the left side mounting plate has a left side guide shoe 50L freely slidably engaged with a left side linear marginal side 54L of the left side slide plate.
