PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for contents recording which can prevent a noise from being mixed with data and also prevent recording processing from ending in failure. SOLUTION: A disk unit 12 includes a CPU 30 which instructs a DSP 28 to set a seek speed to a slow speed at the start of recording when audio is recorded. During the recording of a recording signal (data), the CPU 30 detects the amount of data in a buffer memory 30 and instructs the DSP 28 to set the seek speed to a high speed when the amount of data exceeds a certain amount. Consequently, the buffer memory 32 can avoid exceeding its maximum capacity. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
