Method for protection of label switching paths in a multiprotocol label-switching network (MPLS) comprises a plurality of nodes linked by IP. Each path is constituted by a series of links and nodes. Protection is provided in the form of a bypass path which starts upstream of the node to be protected and finishes at a node on the same path but downstream of the protected node. A certain number of network resources are reserved for the bypass path in case of failure of the element of the first network path.
