PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transformer which can perform the transformation with high conversion efficiency even in case that input voltage or load changes. SOLUTION: A load detecting circuit 19 detects the power consumption of load 30. A control switching circuit 20 selects either a frequency control circuit 17 or a burst control circuit 18 as a circuit for performing the control of an oscillation circuit 22 on the bases of the detected power consumption in question. When the frequency control circuit 17 is selected, the frequency of performing the switching by switch elements Q1 and Q2 is controlled to suppress the ripple of the DC voltage V5. Moreover, when the burst control circuit 18 is selected, the burst control circuit for turning on or turning off the generating action of the rectangular wave voltage V2 is performed to suppress the ripple of the DC voltage V5.
