Partner 1 generates the partner key PS, and a transaction number TAN and transmits the transaction number to its hardware key, and receives a hash response. The partner key is encrypted using the hash response to give a transport key. The transport key, the serial number of the hardware key and the transaction number are transmitted by Partner 1 to Partner 2. An Independent claim is also included for a method of secure transmission of a partner key via a non-secure transmission line.
