362,117. Variable - speed generator systems. LORENZ AKT.-GES., C., 1, Lorenzweg, Tempelhof, Berlin. Nov. 4, 1930, No. 33167. Convention date, Nov. 8, 1929. [Class 38 (iv).] A variable speed alternator MG charges a battery B through a transformer T and rectifier GL when a certain speed has been reached, lamps L being supplied directly from the alternator. At other times the lamps are supplied from the battery. As the generator speed rises from rest a centrifugal switch Z closes in succession contacts 1, 2, to excite the alternator from the battery and contacts 2, 3 to energize an electromagnet M which transfers the lamps from the battery to the alternator terminals. A cooker or other additional load may be connected across a normally-closed switch S. The alternator is preferably of medium frequency and has internal self-inductance sufficient to maintain steady voltage above a given speed. |
