[Class 20 (iii).] The balance weight of the lower sash of a double-sash window is automatically added to the balance weight of the upper sash by a connector k should the lower sash cord be severed, e.g. as by fire, and the upper sash thereby closed. The connector k is of sufficient length to allow the meeting rails of each sash to be exposed for painting &c. A fusible link may be provided in the lower sash chain consisting of two members i, i<1> connected by a ball i<2> and solder. |
