Current sensor for generation of a pulse width modulated output signal (PWMOUT) with an output side modulation factor that is much greater than the input side modulation factor. A first digital processing circuit is connected to the input side to generate a binary number that is proportional to the impulse width of the input signal (PWMIN). A second digital processing circuit is connected to the first digital processing circuit to produce the output signal (PWMOUT) dependent on the binary number.
