The aircraft wheel drive device has streamlined scoops (2) on both sides of the wheel (1). The scoop apertures (4) point in the direction (5) of flight or ground travel. The scoops may be cast in one with the rubber tires (3), or may be in the form of separate rings with the scoops molded onto them. They may be integrated into a wheel rim.
