<p>A distributed execution system (DEX System) (100) having a hierarchy (102) in a tree structure, with a central server (104) at the root, hierarchical entities (110) as branches, and canonical entities (108) as leaves. The hierarchical and canonical entities (110, 108) are formed of sets of multiple peer machines (106). The peer machines (106) may be participants in a simulation or may, as hierarchical and canonical entities (110, 108) be executors of the simulation on behalf of the participants. The peer machines (106) in canonical entities (108) execute a region of the simulation in common. The hierarchical entities (110) direct hierarchical and canonical entities (110, 108) lower in the hierarchy (102). Both the hierarchical and canonical entities (110, 108) compare their internal results, and provide votes on those results up the hierarchy (102). To insure secure execution, the peer machines (106) are not permitted to be both participants and executors in the same regions of the simulation.</p> |
