The method for monitoring one or more shock absorber units in a motor vehicle in which, during driving, the behavior of the spring-shock absorber unit is measured so that abnormal behavior can be detected. In order to detect said abnormal behavior, the attenuation behavior of the vibration curve, and-or the vibration frequency are monitored in response to a sharp mechanical impulse.
