HYPERSENSITIVE REACTION INITIATING FACTOR DERIVED FROM XANTHOMONAS AXONOPODIS AND USAGE THEREOF

PURPOSE: Provided is a hypersensitive reaction initiating factor (elicitor) polypeptide or protein which is applied to plants or plant seeds to give disease resistance thereto and prevent it from being damaged by harmful insects while facilitating the growth thereof. CONSTITUTION: A hypersensitive reaction initiating factor protein or polypeptide comprises DNA molecules having the nucleotide sequences of Sequence No. 1, and DNA molecules mixed with the DNA molecules in stringent conditions, and DNA molecules complementary to those DNA molecules. The hypersensitive reaction elicitor has amino acid with the amino acid sequences of Sequence No. 2. The polypeptide or protein is applied to plants or plant seeds in the non-infectious form under the conditions of being effective in acquiring disease resistance. The disease is derived from Xanthomonas axonopodis.
