A method for producing a raw material powder for forming a material capable of conducting an oxygen ion comprising a multi-component metal oxide containing lanthanum or a lanthanide, which comprises calcining a mixed powder comprising all the elements constituting the multi-component metal oxide, and exposing the calcined mixed powder to water or a gas containing water, to thereby expand at least a part of the powder, or comprises calcining separately two types of mixed powders containing specific different components, and compounding the respective calcined powders in a predetermined ratio; and a method for producing a lanthanum type material capable of conducting an oxygen ion which uses the above raw material powder. A raw material powder produced by the method can be used for producing a compact sintered product having no cracks with stability. |
