An aperture in a concrete &c wall is rebated and a channel formed in the ledge 32 of the rebate spaced from the stop side perpendicular to the ledge and an extruded rigid P.V.C. plastics channel insert 16 inserted in the channel, the insert comprising a channel or groove 14, laterally extending shoulder portions 16, 18 and extending vertically upwards from the shoulder 16 or ledge 34 is an extension 36 with a vertical side surface 38, the panel P being supported on the ledge 16 and sealed against stop 36 by, e.g. an extruded butyl or a polybutane tape 40 and a setting block 42, e.g. of neoprene, rests on the ledge 34 with a spacer shim 43 to limit movement of the panel P when pressed against the tape 40 to avoid excessive compression of the tape, by the insertion in the channel 14 of a wedge plug 30, e.g. of neoprene of the shape shown so that it has a surface which contacts and presses on the panel P. The channel insert may be moulded into the concrete and may be omitted where the wall material such as a limestone body, is smooth. |
