Selector mechanism for controlling an automatic transmission of a motor vehicle

The device has a controller (3) for implementing the individual changes and at least two different programs for automatic mode, i.e. economy and sport programs, selectable by the driver for implementation by the controller. A button device (5) near the steering wheel (4) is used for up and down shifting in manual mode. With automatic mode on the various programs can be selected by actuating the button device.
