Method and apparatus for producing workpieces through hydroforming

The forming tool (1) is initially moved into an end position without any relative movement between the tubular workpiece and the sealing punch (9), then the workpiece is formed via an internal pressure corresponding to the tool geometry (4), and then the tool and punch are moved apart in opposite directions so that a free hydroforming region (2) of the tool geometry is made available, with which the workpiece is successively pressed until the desired end contour is obtained. An Independent claim is also included for the hydroforming machine, which has the tool mounted in an axially movable sliding part (5) provided with a sleeve which extends into the tool and has its front end facing the tool geometry provided with a partial tool geometry (7) complimetary to the tool geometry.
