PURPOSE: A method for joining a lead terminal to the positive and negative electrode plates of a lithium ion battery is provided, to simplify the construction of equipment by using pressing and sintering deformation. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of placing positive and negative electrode plates(1) on the upper face of a die(3) having a certain shape, and pressing a punch combined with the die from the upper side of a lead terminal to form a groove(3a) by sintering deformation, thereby joining the lead terminal to the positive and negative electrode plates by the binding force at the groove part(3a). Preferably the punch is pressed by using a hydraulic cylinder.
