Process for coating surfaces with hybrid polymer compositions

A novel coating composition is obtained by (A) hydrolytic condensation, optionally in presence of a condensation catalyst or additives, of (i) a crosslinkable epoxysilane (10-98 mol.%) with (ii) a complexed aluminum alkoxide (5-75 mol.%), followed by (B) addition of a pre-polymer or reactive diluent, each of which is optionally crosslinkable and the pre-polymer being able to form an interpenetrating network (IPN). A novel coating composition is obtained by (A) hydrolytic condensation, optionally in presence of a condensation catalyst or additives, of (i) a crosslinkable epoxysilane (10-98 mol.%) of formula (I) (or its oligomer) with (ii) a complexed aluminum alkoxide (5-75 mol.%) of formula (II), followed by (B) addition of pre-polymer or reactive diluent each of which is optionally crosslinkable and the pre-polymer being able to form an interpenetrating network (IPN).
