This relates to robotic preferably cylindrical equipment (1) having the capacity to move within a pipeline or other confined space in both directions and to carry out miscellaneous operations, pulling along an umbilical (8) and carrying accessories, tools, or materials. It comprises two identical modules (2a, 2b) joined by a rotary joint (13) connecting the pistons (11) of hydraulic or pneumatic propulsive piston systems (10). Each module (2a, 2b) basically comprises a propulsive piston system (10) which is responsible for the longitudinal movement of module (2a, 2b), a positioning tower (4) on which are mounted wheels (5) having a non-reversing system and means for rotating positioning tower (4) through one hundred and eighty degrees with reference to its vertical axis, reversing the direction of movement of equipment (1). Through the development or attachment of interfaces the invention makes it possible to bring tools, equipment, devices or materials to a remote location within a pipeline having bends within the limits of the standards for the purposes of clearing obstructions, making inspections and other operations. <IMAGE>
