PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a nickel powder wherein low- temperature oxidation is prevented and high-temperature excess sintering is suppressed; a nickel powder produced thereby; a nickel paste using the powder; and a laminated ceramic electronic part having an electrode formed by using the paste. SOLUTION: A nickel powder is mixed with a rare earth element compound and an alkali in the presence of water to attach the precipitate of a rare earth element hydroxide to the surface of the nickel powder. The nickel powder is then separated, dried, and subjected to jet milling. At least one element selected from the group consisting of Y and elements having atomic numbers of 57-71 is used as the rare earth element constituting the rare earth element compound. The ratio, to nickel, of the rare earth element hydroxide attached to the surface of the nickel powder is 0.05-3.0 atom.% expressed in terms of metal. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
