PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulating agent capable of giving excellent heat insulation and transparency to an agricultural film, a master batch pellet which contains the heat insulating agent for the agricultural film as an effective component and the agricultural film. SOLUTION: The heat insulating agent for the agricultural film is composed of a particle powder of a Mg-Al hydrotalcite of which the particle surface is covered with 0.5-100 wt.% (based on the powder) of an oxysilicate and/or a phosphoric acid compound and which has an average plate surface diameter of 2.0μm or below. A master batch pellet for the agricultural film which contains the heat insulating agent for the agricultural film in the master batch pellet made from a polyolefin resin and the agricultural film which contains the heat insulating agent for the agricultural film in a film made from the polyolefin resin are also provided.
