PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an item packaging apparatus and an item packaging method in which the item can be easily packaged. SOLUTION: An item packaging apparatus 1 is comprised of an annular member 3 formed in an annular shape, provided with a wall section 3a having a space for storing an item 2 inside the annular shape and having its upper part released; and a bottom section 4 arranged below the annular member 3 where its location abutted by the item 2 is positioned at a higher location than that of a lower end 3b of the annular member 3. The annular member 3 is comprised of an air storing section 3c for storing air inside it, and an air supplying port 3d for feeding air to the air storing section 3c. After the item 2 is stored inside the annular member 3, air is fed into the air storing section 3c through the air supplying port 3d. The annular member 3 is closely contacted with an outer shape of the item 2 to prevent the item 2 from moving into the annular member 3 and then the item 2 is packaged. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
