PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adsorbing material capable of using a wood material such as cut down woods as a raw material and efficiently reducing a concentration of VOC volatilized in a new building; and an efficient removal method for the VOC. SOLUTION: The adsorbing material contains a mixed woody charcoal obtained by mixing a high-temperature baked woody charcoal obtained by burning a wood material at 800-3,000°C and a low-temperature baked woody charcoal obtained by burning the wood material at 400 to less than 800°C at a weight ratio of 10:100-100:1. The adsorbing material for a volatile organic compound such as formaldehyde is obtained by accommodating the mixed woody charcoal in an envelope and retaining the accommodation body by a support material. In the removal method for the indoor volatile organic compound, the above adsorbing material is used. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
