PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently cool a light source of an optical fixing device. SOLUTION: In a color thermal printer 2, a conveyance passage is provided along a vertical direction. The position of the downstream side of the conveyance passage is higher than that of the upstream side of thereof in the vertical direction. The optical device 9 is provided to the downstream side of a thermal head 6. The optical fixing device 9 is constituted of a light source 16 and a cooling unit 17 for cooling a light emitting face of the light source 16. A coolant 28 is accommodated in the cooling unit 17 and the light emitting face 16a of the light source 16 is cooled by the coolant 28. A pass-through section 26 for allowing a light from the light source 16 to pass therethrough is provided to the bottom face of the cooling unit 17. A heat radiating fin 30 for radiating the heat of the coolant 28 is provided to the cooling unit 17. The heat radiating fin 30 is disposed to a portion at the downstream side (upper portion) of the light emitting face 16a. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
