PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin composition improved in properties such as mechanical strengths, hardness, rigidity and gas barrier properties. SOLUTION: A method is provided for producing a polyester resin composition comprising a polyester resin and 0.1-10 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. polyester resin, hydrotalcite, which includes adding the hydrotalcite to the polyester resin in an arbitrary stage before completion of polycondensation of the polyester resin and bringing the polycondensation to completion and a polyester resin composition produced thereby.
