PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a high effective printing speed by improving a position of a hammer in a line printer for printing English characters at a high speed. SOLUTION: A first hammer bank is equipped with a hammer group wherein hammers are arranged to print a first dot line and a second dot line in one time scanning. A second hammer bank is equipped with a hammer group wherein hammers are arranged to print a second dot line and a third dot line in one time scanning. The first hammer bank and the second hammer bank are provided to be opposed to each other to form a double hammer bank so as to print three dot lines in one time scanning. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
