PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous filter having excellent bacteria-removing performance, a water purifier provided with the filter, an inspection device, which can simply probes the performance of the filter, and an inspection method. SOLUTION: This porous filter 1 includes: a porous substrate comprising at least two end faces 41, 43 and a large number of flow passages 3a, 3b extending from one of the end face 41 to the other end face 43; and a filtration membrane 9 provided on the inner periphery of a part of the flow passages 3a, 3b. The porous filter and the water purifier are characterized in that, when the surface of the porous substrate is pressurized by air, the initial pressure of air which flows from any of the flow passages 3b provided with the filtration membrane, is 0.05 to 0.6 MPa.
