PURPOSE: A call charging and detecting method of a key phone system is provided to check a telephone charge according to call conversation time and visually detect it for user's attention. CONSTITUTION: It is analyzed whether an office line called party is in a busy state, and if the office line called party is in an idle state, a speech path is formed between a key phone subscriber and the office line called party for a call communication(332). A CPU initializes a charge counter(333). The CPU detects a charge pulse signal(334), counts the charge counter according to the charge pulse, and stores the number of charge counter in a RAM(335). If the originated key phone subscriber is in a charge display mode(336), a display unit of the key phone subscriber displays the charge(337). When the call is terminated(338), the number of counters of the charge pulse is checked to detect a call conversation charge(339).
