PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steam iron by which prescribed performance is stably secured regardless of a user's operating method, and an increased steam amount is continuously generated for a prescribed time. SOLUTION: The steam iron includes: a vaporizing chamber 6 which is arranged in a base 3 to generate steam; a pump device 17 for supplying water to the vaporizing chamber, which is stored in a water tank 4 for storing water to be supplied to the vaporizing chamber 6; and an operating part 18 for operating the pump device. The pump device 17 supplies water to the vaporizing chamber 6 when a piston 20 driven by the operating part 18 is recovered to a prescribed position. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
