PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To combine a button mounting process step and a button fitting process step, which exist heretofore as separate process steps, to one process step and to make working efficiency correspondingly higher. SOLUTION: A fabric 5a with a buttonhole finished off with button holing and a fabric 5b not yet worn with a button 7 to be attached are aligned to a prescribed position and are superposed on each other and in the state of opening and holding the buttonhole 6 at the fabric 5a with the buttonhole, the button 7 is set to align the opened buttonhole 6 and this button 7 is sewed on the fabric 5b not yet worn with the button through the buttonhole 6.
