摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-modified titanium oxide selectively exhibiting a high catalytic activity against a specific compound; and a photolysis catalyst comprising such that the surface-modified titanium oxide and selectively exhibiting a high catalytic activity against a specific compound. SOLUTION: The surface-modified titanium oxide with a selective photolysis reactivity comprises a sulfate modified titanium oxide obtained by immersing a titanium oxide in 1-0.0005 N aqueous sulfuric acid solution and heat-treating it at 400-600°C, or a chlorinated alumina modified titanium oxide obtained by immersing titanium oxide in 5-0.05 N aqueous sulfuric acid solution and heat- treating it at 400-600°C, immersing the obtained sulfate modified titanium oxide in an organic solvent solution of aluminum alkoxide to partially form alumina on the surface of titanium oxide and then immersing this in a chlorinated substance and heat-treating it at 300°C or higher.
