METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR STABILIZING MAGNETIC DOMAIN OF MERGED TYPE MAGNETO-RESISTIVE HEAD BY USING WRITE CURRENT AND READ BIAS CURRENT

PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for stabilizing a magnetic domain of a merged type magneto-resistive head by using write current and read bias current are provided to prevent a read head from being melted by not requiring an external magnet, and compensate ESD(Electro-Static Discharge) damaging the read head. CONSTITUTION: A write current supply source(2050) applies a write level current to a write differential signal pair to control a magnetic field generated by a write head(202) included in a merged type magneto-resistive read/write head(200) to increase a temperature of a read head(204) included in the merged type magneto-resistive read/write head. A read current supply source(2080) applies a read bias current to a read differential signal pair connected to the read head to generate the magnetic field in the read head. A computer(2000) maintains the write level current to the write differential signal pair for a predetermined period and maintains the read bias current to the read differential signal pair.
