PURPOSE:To provide the plastic optical fiber bundle having practicability and flank light leakage characteristics uniform over the fiber length by mixing and bundling plural pieces of >=2 kinds of optical fibers having a specific value of the difference in light transmission loss. CONSTITUTION:This plastic optical fiber bundle is formed by bundling >=5 pieces of at least two kinds of the optical fibers varying in the light transmission loss measured at 650nm wavelength by ?10dB/km. The optical fibers are plastic optical fibers having clads (sheaths) and cores (fibers). The blanks constituting the fiber materials include, for example, a polymethyl methacrylate resin, deuterated polymethyl methacrylate, polystyrene polymer, etc. The sheath materials have the refractive index smaller than the refractive index of the fiber materials and include, for example, a vinylidene fluoride polymer, ester methacrylate polymer, etc. More particularly, the plastic optical fibers having <=140dB/km light transmission loss measured by the light of 650nm are preferably formed of one component. |
