<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical transmitter capable of corresponding to a response characteristic higher than that of conventional feedback control in real time. <P>SOLUTION: This optical transmitter provided with an optical modulator 102 for receiving light from a light source and for modulating the intensity of input light in accordance with an applied voltage, a modulator bias circuit 105 for supplying a bias voltage to the optical modulator, a modulator driving circuit 104 for generating a signal for driving the optical modulator from an input electric signal, and a controlling means (106) for controlling light output power of the light source and a driving amplitude of an output waveform of the modulator driving circuit is provided with a signal pattern discriminating means (108) for discriminating data to be transmitted and sorting the discriminated data to a plurality of preprepared types of patterns, and a drive variable controlling means (107) for transmitting information discriminated and determined by the signal pattern discriminating means to at least one among a light source driving circuit 103, the modulator driving circuit 104 and the modulator bias circuit 105, changing the drive of the relevant circuit in accordance with a discriminated signal pattern and relieving transmission performance deterioration dependent upon a transmission signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
