<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of yielding a high- quality color image by preventing color slurring by making the traveling of a transfer carrying belt or an intermediate transfer belt stable. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus where a plurality of image forming units each having an image carrier are juxtaposed to be opposed to a transfer belt, respective stages for electrification, development, transfer and cleaning in the respective color image forming units are started and finished in the same timing. Thus, influence exerted on the traveling of the transfer belt in the case of starting or finishing the respective stages in the respective color image forming units is eliminated and the speed of the transfer belt is made stable, whereby the color slurring is prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
