<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device for an image forming apparatus, which efficiently cools an object, such as a heat roller of a fixing unit, based upon an estimated quantity of accumulated heat and suppresses noise and consumption power of a fan motor. <P>SOLUTION: The cooling apparatus for the image forming apparatus has: a temperature detector which outputs a temperature signal indicating temperature of an object capable of generating heat; a fan motor drive circuit which drives the fan motor used for cooling the object based upon the temperature signal; and a central processing unit 1 which control the entire device. In the cooling device, the central processing unit 1 has an accumulated-heat index calculating means 13 which calculates an accumulated heat index indicating the degree of accumulated heat of the object, and a motor drive means 14 which drives the fan motor via the fan motor drive circuit based upon the calculated accumulated-heat index. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
