PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to change the size of the screen step by step. SOLUTION: The portable telephone set is equipped with a screen 1, a main body 2 of the portable telephone set provided with the screen 1, a key pad 3 which is slid relatively to the main body 2 of the portable telephone set step by step to change, the size of a readable area on the screen, a movable detection part 4 for detecting the position of the key pad 3 from the positions of the key pad 3 and a key pad contact in the manner of hardware, for example, and a conversion part 5 for converting the image of a display object to be settled within the readable area in accordance with the detected result of the movable detection part 4.
