PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera wherein the leading end part of a film can be accurately and easily aligned with an index. SOLUTION: As to the camera equipped with a film winding/rewinding function, and wherein the position of the leading end part of the film is indicated at loading the film, the position index for the film leading end part is arranged on the outer peripheral part of a take-up spool, and a phase detection means for detecting the phase of the take-up spool is arranged. In this case, after finishing the film rewinding operation, an operation of rotating the take-up spool and stopping the position index at a prescribed position is performed. Besides, an operation of detecting the phase of the take-up spool is always performed in a state where the back cover is kept open, and an operation of rotating the take-up spool and stopping the position index at a prescribed position is performed.
