<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for surely detecting a color slurring detection pattern formed of a toner image even in the case of the deteriorated carrying belt of an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with a plurality of image forming parts 2 respectively having an image carrier 1 on which the toner image is carried, a carrying part 3 carrying a recording medium P relatively to the image forming parts, a transfer part 1 transferring the toner image carried on the image carriers in the image forming parts to the recording medium or the carrying part, and a detection sensor 6 detecting the positional information of the image transferred by the transfer part. Then, image deviation detection patterns for detecting the deviation of the image are superposed and transferred to the recording medium or the carrying part by two or more different image forming parts, a boundary between two or more superposed and transferred image deviation detection patterns is detected by the detection sensor, and the operation of at least one or more image forming parts is controlled to be corrected based on the information detected by the detection sensor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
