PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the multiplying characteristic of a photo-electric current multiplier. SOLUTION: An Au thin film is formed, by evaporation method, in the thickness of 20 nm as the electrodes 4, 6 on both surfaces of an NTCDA single crystal 2 in the thickness of 167μm to form a sandwich type cell. When a voltage is applied to the NTCDA single crystal 2 from a DC power supply 8 with the electrodes 4, 6 and is then irradiated with a monochlomatic light, a photo-current flowing is multiplied. The NTCDA single crystal 2 can be manufactured by heating the NTCDA powder under the carrier gas flow for the purpose of vaporization and cooling the same. The NTCDA single crystal 2 manufactured under reduced the environmental pressure shows a multiplication of the photo-current but the NTCDA single crystal 2 manufactured under the atmospheric environmental pressure almost does not show the multiplication of photo-current.
