PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an external electrode discharge lamp increasing the quantity of light emission and attaining a long service life. SOLUTION: This external electrode discharge lamp 12 has electrodes 70, 80 formed at the outer peripheral parts of both axial ends of a tubular glass lamp container 20 filled with a discharge medium inside. The electrodes are formed by providing the inner peripheral surfaces of plastic foil-like metal conductors 31, 41 with the layers of conductive pressure-sensitive adhesives 32, 42. The layer of the conductive pressure-sensitive adhesive is formed by dispersing conductive particles in one or two or more selected out of silicon resin, fluororesin, polyimide resin and epoxy resin based pressure-sensitive, adhesives.
