PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a favorable image by increasing peak brightness of the image to be displayed, and suppressing generation of a useless period. SOLUTION: The method for driving an indicator having a plurality of scanning wirings and a plurality of modulation wirings includes a step for supplying a scanning selection signal to the scanning wiring selected from among the plurality of scanning wirings in every horizontal scanning period, and a step for supplying a modulation signal modulated on picture date to the plurality of modulation wiring in every horizontal scanning period, and at least the selection periods of the scanning selection signals during the horizontal scanning periods are made to differ from each other during the vertical scanning periods.
