PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external heat insulating tile and its manufacturing method capable of minimizing the occurrence of inconvenience such as separation between the tile and a heat insulating material. SOLUTION: This external heat insulating tile has a ceramic tile 2, and a heat insulating layer 4 composed of foaming glass formed on the reverse of this tile 2. The foaming glass is formed by melting while heating and foaming a glass material such as glass powder, a glass cullet, and glass beads, and can minimize a difference in thermal expansion-contraction behavior by a difference in a thermal expansion coefficient between the tile 2 and the heat insulating layer 4 since the thermal expansion coefficient very closely resembles in the tile 2, and can reduce stress generated in the boundary part vicinity of both. The foaming glass is joined to the tile by its self-installable performance, and can dispense with an adhesive, and causes no fear of deteriorating adhesive strength by a change with the lapse of time, and can secure integration over a long period.
