The method for controlling the capacity of a vehicle driver to assure their fitness to drive involves applying non-perceptible movements (1) to the steering wheel (3) to cause a deviation from the vehicle path. The drivers correction movements are sensed and compared to preset values (5). An alarm is operated if the driver reaction degrade beyond a set limit.
