OPTICAL MODULE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module with a simplified manufacturing process requiring no particular facility nor work for taking preventive measures against deterioration of surfaces of respective optical elements caused by condensation or oxidation. SOLUTION: An optical system 32 is contained in a package 31 of an optical multiplexing module 30. The package 31 is equipped with a module body 36 having an opening part and a lid for closing the opening part. Molds 41 and 42 molded of a material containing a deterioration preventive agent such as a desiccant are provided at prescribed positions other than an optical path of the optical system 32 in the package 31. The lid is jointed to the module body 36 to close the opening part of the module body 36 to seal the package 31. This enables hermetic sealing of the package only by disposing the molds 41 and 42 at the prescribed positions in the package and jointing the lid to the body. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
