PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary seal for substantially minimizing or eliminating leakage loss passing through a chord hinge seal. SOLUTION: This gas turbine has a chord hinge seal 46 between an inner rail 52 of a nozzle segment 41 and an annular seal face 54 directed to the axial direction of a nozzle supporting ring 44. An auxiliary seal 70 is arranged between a supporting ring and the inner rail of the nozzle segment on a high pressure side 37 of the chord hinge seal. The auxiliary seal includes a pair of thin metallic shims 72, 74 covered with a woven metal cloth 76. A bracket 80 and a part of the auxiliary seal are received in a groove 86. The protruding edge of the cloth seal is pressed to the annular seal face 54. Slits are alternately formed to the shim at a terminal edge 84 of the auxiliary seal in a teeth-like form in a chord direction. Therefore, flexibility is given to the shims and the shims can be seal-engaged with the nozzle supporting ring effectively. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
